Purpose of UWV

The Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) is an autonomous administrative authority and is commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. The Dutch employee insurances are provided via laws such as:

• WW: Unemployment Insurance Act
• WIA: Work and Income according to Labour Capacity Act
• WGA: Return to Work (Partially Disabled) Regulations
• IVA: Full Invalidity Benefit Regulations
• WAJONG: Invalidity Insurance (Young Disabled Persons) Act

For collective dismissals ? 20 headcount within period of 3 months, the employer has to obtain a dismissal permit to serve notice of termination. Employers may need to work with UWV to ensure compliance with Dutch Employment Law.
